IPTV EPG Not Working? How to Fix TV Guide Issues

Your IPTV channels work fine but the electronic program guide (EPG) shows no data, wrong times, or just blank spaces where program information should be. The EPG is what makes IPTV feel like real television with a proper TV guide. When it breaks, navigating channels becomes frustrating. Here is how to fix every common EPG problem.

What is an EPG and Why Does it Matter?

An EPG or Electronic Program Guide is the TV schedule data that shows you what is currently playing and what is coming up next on each channel. Without it you have to blindly browse channels hoping to find something to watch. With a working EPG you can see program titles, descriptions, start times, and end times just like a traditional cable guide.

Problem 1: EPG Shows No Data at All

If your EPG is completely blank the most likely cause is a missing or incorrect EPG URL. Go to your IPTV player settings and find the EPG section. Make sure the EPG URL is entered correctly. Your provider should give you this URL. If the URL is correct but still no data, the EPG source may be temporarily down. Wait a few hours and try refreshing.

In TiviMate go to Settings, EPG, TV Sources to manage your EPG. In IPTV Smarters go to Settings, EPG. Make sure the EPG source is enabled and the URL is correct with no extra spaces.

Problem 2: EPG Has Wrong Times or Programs

Wrong EPG data usually means a timezone mismatch. Your EPG may be set to a different timezone than your location. In your IPTV app settings look for EPG Time Offset and adjust it to match your timezone. Some apps auto-detect your timezone while others need manual configuration.

Another cause is that your EPG source has outdated data. Force a manual EPG refresh in your app settings. Delete the current EPG data, re-enter the URL, and let it download fresh data.

Problem 3: EPG Loads for Some Channels but Not Others

This usually means the EPG provider does not have data for all your channels. Not every EPG source covers every channel. Try adding an additional EPG source to fill the gaps. Some IPTV players like TiviMate support multiple EPG sources simultaneously.

Problem 4: EPG Takes Forever to Load

A slow EPG download is usually caused by a slow EPG source or a slow internet connection. If your EPG URL points to a large XML file it can take several minutes to download and parse.
